The Garys are a team of eight NYC-based long-form improvisers who met in 2009 while training at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Collectively, members have studied improv, sketch and theatre at The Magnet (NYC), Second City (Chicago), BMI, and with teachers from iO (Chicago). We have performed at venues all over NYC as well as at the Boston Improv Festival, The Providence Improv Festival and, most recently, the Del Close Marathon.
In May of 2011, we produced and hosted The Garathon, a highly successful elimination-style, sixteen-team improv tournament at The Tank in New York City. We are delighted to be directed by Will Storie of UCBT-NY Harold teams Raynard and The Bishop.
The team’s latest project, Overtime:NSFW runs regularly at The Tank (151 West 46th St) and consists of a series of improvised scenes inspired by an audience member interview about the thing we all love to hate: work!
